Eventbrite makes major moves in European market with Ticketscript acquisition

Eventbrite has further established itself as a major player in the European event platform market through the acquisition of Ticketscript, a blossoming startup out of the Netherlands whose specialty lies in electronic music events.

According to TechCrunch, the deal is expected to bring high return for both parties involved. Ticketscript’s dominance over the local market will  add “significant assets and technical power to our platform,” stated Eventbrite CEO Julia Hartz of the new partnership, while Ticketscript’s new funding will allow it to further develop its own capabilities and maintain its edge over competitors. Together, the two ticketing players are poised to be big enough to rival Ticketmaster in the live music space in Europe.

Ticketscript was founded in Amsterdam in 2006 by a group of friends who realized there was a gap in the market for good quality ticket sale platforms for electronic music events. They’re known for their standout business model, which allows users to embed ticket links into their own sites rather than guiding traffic away from the event page. They’ve since gone on host ticket sales for over 100,000 events on their home continent.
