Movement adds Richie Hawtin and deadmau5’s techno alias in Phase 2 lineup
Movement is continuing its reign as one of the world’s best electronic music festivals. The annual three-day festival in the home of techno, at Detroit’s scenic Hart Plaza, brings out some of the best names in the dance underground from across the world. The good folks over at Paxahau just revealed over 40 new acts their Phase 2 announcement for this year’s festival lineup, which will grace Detroit over Memorial Day Weekend.
Representing Canada on the main stages, Richie Hawtin will travel across the border from Windsor, Ontario, while deadmau5 will don his techno-driven alias TESTPILOT for the first time in four years. Adding to the main stage madness from the first lineup announcement is none other than the King of Space Ibiza, Carl Cox, and the literal originators of techno, “The Belleville Three” – Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson. The main stage, however, only scratches the surface of what Movement has to offer, with the other stages each bringing their own flavor to the festival.
While techno fans will certainly get their fill throughout the weekend with special offerings such as Planet E boss Carl Craig’s Synthesizer Ensemble, Movement always casts a wide net in terms of genre, with Detroit MC and turn-up icon Danny Brown and bass virtuoso Thundercat also on the bill. With a potent mix of the world’s best DJs with a hearty helping of Detroit’s wealth of homegrown talent, Movement is poised to have another record-breaking year.
