Soundcloud announces new subscription pricing option

Soundcloud launched itself into the competitive paid streaming landscape in March 2016 with the arrival of its Soundcloud Go subscription service. Nearly a year later, with the company considering a sale that has seen one potential buyer drop out while another circles it, the site has announced a change to Soundcloud Go.

The German streaming platform has launched a cheaper pricing option for its subscription service. The new package, taking over the Soundcloud Go moniker, will cost users in the United States $5.99 a month, giving them access to over 120 million tracks, no advertisements, and offline listening. The previous option, rebranded as Soundcloud Go+, will cost $9.99 a month with access to over 150 million tracks, no previews, and unlock separate tracks which are available exclusively to the “plus” echelon.

Both options are available to prospective subscribers as a 30-day free trial.
