On February 24, deadmau5 released his awaited compilation album, stuff i used to do, for free. Alongside the retrospective collection, Joel Zimmerman also further stoked anticipation for his forthcoming “lots of shows in a row tour” by uploading a new video of the Cube 2.1 – his updated stage production. The newest Cube 2.1 video is a further look behind the scenes, in which Zimmerman and project collaborators TAIT discuss the technical details and creative concept behind the stage design.

TAIT’s Chief Creative Officer and partner Adam Davis says that the new Cube is “the newest, coolest DJ stand/machine we’ve ever built.” Davis’ claim shouldn’t be taken lightly, as the company’s portfolio boasts productions for Omnia Nightclub; ceremonies for the Olympics, Academy Awards, and MTV VMAs; and visual designs for high-profile acts which include Lady Gaga, Muse, U2, and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, among many more. TAIT has also worked with deadmau5 in the past, for his Hakkasan residency and performance at Veld 2016.

Of course, footage from the film itself provides more compelling evidence of the new Cube’s wondrousness than a discussion about its designers’ résumés. Check out “mau5trap presents: deadmau5 x TAIT (cube 2.1) Video 1” below:
