Legendary film composer Hans Zimmer redefined the word epic this weekend at his weekend one Coachella performance. While Migos’ appearance was slightly less of a surprise after coming out as special guests with Future, DJ Snake and Gucci Mane, festival goers couldn’t have predicted the awe inspiring visuals and sonically arresting performance that Zimmer laid down.
The German composer played scores from The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception and The Dark Knight on the Outdoor stage. While his set was on the smaller of the two outdoor stages, this minor scheduling flub was his set’s only Achilles’ heel. Just after sunset, thousands of attendees gathered to witness kaleidoscopic visuals and a mind-blowing full orchestra to top off Sunday’s lineup. As the cherry on top of the set, Pharrell Williams appeared as a special guest to perform his Grammy nominated song “Freedom.”
Zimmer performs this upcoming weekend at Coachella weekend two, and continues on a world tour this summer. Check out his tour dates here, and grab tickets to witness the set of a lifetime.
