Ookay delivers hilarious remix of The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’

Ookay, like most, is no stranger to a good meme. Having previously released the amusing “Star Wars” back in 2013, he is renowned for not only being a perfectly capable producer, but also for having a pretty legendary sense of humor — a fact that substantiated by his social media accounts.

That funny-streak is evident on his new “remix” of The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” which he has repurposed into what is essentially an meme in audio form. The one-minute-long reproduction introduces the smash hit to bits of Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank Dat,’ Rick Ross and Skrillex’s ‘Purple Lamborghini,’ Disturbed’s ‘Down With The Sickness’ and a duck. While clearly not meant to be taken seriously, Ookay’s deployment of these samples within the structure of “Closer” is legitimately interesting in its own right — arguably more so than the original.

The remix has been widely appreciated by his fans and colleagues alike, due to its ironic tone and unmistakable humor. Expect the remix to gain traction in the dance music world as time progresses.
