On Friday, May 19, Tube & Berger will release their sophomore album, We Are All Stars. The long-awaited release comes almost five years after Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic released their debut album, Introlution, but the German deep house savants have been anything but silent in that time. In addition to running their esteemed Kittball imprint, which released a new compilation last Friday, the duo provided a scintillating Essential Mix debut in February.
Though Tube & Berger have been international fixtures in house music for more than a decade, they continue to provide dynamic performances, both as DJs and as a live outfit – echoing their earliest iteration as a punk rock band. In their forthcoming album, the veteran musicians harness their instrumental proclivities which comprise their roots. Where, Introlution primarily saw Roerig and Vidovic showcase their mastery over a diverse range of house music, We Are All Stars sees the duo revisit its seminal role as a band.
Indeed, the stirring vocals and rock-driven instrumentations of songs like the White Lies-assisted “Quiet Time (Shadow of Myself)” are as pivotal as the straightforward club-germane production on “ICMF” and the album’s titular track. With We Are All Stars, Tube & Berger balance their diverse influences with an innovative edge; they deviate from their typical musical fare while retaining the core essence signature sound.
