Castor Troy – Sleepless (Original Mix)

Heavy.

It’s probably the best word to describe Castor Troy’s music. With each new release, whether it be an original or a remix, the producer brings the a sonic inferno. Listeners are almost able to feel the physical heat coming off of tracks like “Always Have” or his remix of NGHTMRE and Boombox Cartel‘s “Aftershock.”

“Sleepless,” Troy’s latest release, is no exception to this tradition. The track starts off slowly, ushering in the producer’s emotion-laden vocals with a soft background piano. In his former single, “Prisoner,” the artist included a short description of the song, describing the vocal trouble he was going through at the time.

“[I] had some severe vocal issues at the time and only was able to write two songs that year with vocals,” he says. “You can hear my throat rasp in [‘Prisoner’] but I ended up keeping it… it was a snapshot of how I was at that time. Since then I had to hire a vocal coach whole saved my throat and there is more to come.”

“More to come” includes “Sleepless,” which demonstrates the strong vocal power the producer possesses. The new output manages to be both emotional and heavy, appealing to fans of both future bass and trap worlds. In “Sleepless,” it’s impossible to tell that the singer ever had vocal trouble, and this track feels like Castor Troy has really come into his own.
