Hear The Code’s new cover of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Love’

Recording a cover of a track by a major artist is a bold move. While many look down on these covers because the reproduction can hardly ever compare to the original song, it’s important to give credit where credit is due. In this case, British electronic band The Code have done Kendrick Lamar justice with their version of “Love.”

After gaining popularity for with two original albums and covers of Lana Del Rey and Gnarls Barkley, the group have enlisted soul singer and Tchami collaborator Kaleem Taylor for their newest endeavor. Scrapping Lamar’s entire production, the band presents a laid-back, experimental rendition of the original.

The heavily filtered vocals and sliding bass make for a perfect alternative R&B mood reminiscent of artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR or Majid Jordan. Finishing strongly, The Code add a beautiful touch by ease into a deep, chill outro. This cover cements their place as up and comers in the underground scene.
