Marshmello’s official remix of Future’s ‘Mask Off’ will be released Friday

Many have taken a stab at remixing Future‘s “Mask Off,” which peaked at number 5 on Billboard‘s hot 100 chart in early May, and has garnered over 319 million plays on Spotify alone. One of the most notable remixes comes with the addition of Kendrick Lamar‘s world renown lyrical spits, with K Dot laying down striking verses over the track’s original beat. Now, ironically, dance music’s favorite masked personality, Marshmello, is stepping up with his own take on Future’s airwave-dominating hit.

Marshmello has announced via Twitter that his official rendition of “Mask Off” will be dropped this Friday. Although Marshmello has dabbled in hip-hop before, including an Omar Linx-assisted, “Keep It Mello,” his take on “Mask Off” marks the first time Marshmello will officially remix a chart-topping hip-hop track. Future’s inescapable brand of codeine rap and the track’s now iconic flutes in combination with Mello’s signature bouncy euphoria, all polished with this twist of playful irony, will certainly make for an enticing sonic fusion.
