One of the best things about the current trajectory of innovative electronic music is the emphasis on the live performances.

Artists are busting out instruments to accompany their laptops and CDJs. At the forefront of this movement are musicians like Brasstracks, who have taken on the task of creating gargantuan funk anthems out of unexpected tracks.

The duo, comprised of Brooklyn-based Ivan Jackson and Conor Rayne, has been making waves working with artists like Norwegian producer Lido and trombone player Alexander Lewis. Perhaps their biggest accomplishment to date is the Grammy they won for their production on Chance the Rapper‘s “No Problem.”

It’s no surprise that each time they release an original track, cover or remix, the internet is set abuzz.

Their latest work, a cover of Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3,” is impeccably produced. They’ve flipped the hip-hop/rap song into a massive Brasstracks’ anthem, boasting clean-cut horn riffs and stabs, with an accompanying catchy drum line.

In an interview with The Fader, the duo said they’re always looking for new popular songs they can flip with some horns and drums.

“This one was perfect,” Brasstracks opined. “The melody is clever but the beat goes HARD.”
