It’s been a month of ups and downs for Goldroom.
While in Mexico to perform at Corona Sunsets, the producer broke his neck in two places swimming in the Caribbean Sea. Though he spent the next five weeks recovering physically, Goldroom didn’t let his creative process lag. He’s been preparing his latest seasonal mix, titled “Verano.” The producer shared his sentiments on assembling the mix in the track’s description, showing the passion and struggle that went into putting it together.
I’m not sure what I would do without music. I often tell people that music is my primary escape in life, but that’s taken on a whole new meaning in the wake of my injury. The recovery process has been at times frustrating and slow for someone so used to being on the move. I had to work in short bursts over the course of a few weeks, finding new music here, building my Live session there, and working on the mix in painful 30 minute chunks. It felt like I was learning everything all over again, but it gave me something to do and it forced me to think through every small decision. I don’t think its a coincidence that I finally started to feel like myself as I finished up the mix last week. It truly feels like the music in this mix saved my life, and hopefully it can be a small part in saving yours.
With a wide range of both original music (including his brand new Jai Wolf remix) and tunes from other artists, Goldroom pays homage to the music and artists that got him through five difficult weeks. Stream the hour-long mix below.
