The Hot 25 is the definitive playlist series running through dance music culture and hand-delivering you the essential tracks of the week. Whether it’s the hottest or quickest trending tracks, brand new music from your favorite artists, or songs from the unknown that should be landing on your radar, Dancing Astronaut brings you 25 carefully selected records that reflect what’s happening in our world.
The past week saw fiery original releases from Rezz, Paul Oakenfold, and Tchami; major crossover offerings from Zedd, Mura Masa, and AlunaGeorge; as well as under-the-radar gems from Laibert, KOLAJ, and filous.
Additionally, we’ve provided our top picks from within The DA Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.
The Heat of the Week: ODESZA – Higher Ground (feat. Naomi Wild)
Slowly rolling out their third LP, ODESZA is certainly showing a multitude of sides to their trademark sound. Their newest single, “Higher Ground,” is a beautiful synthesis of the Seattle duo’s sparkling, ethereal sound and a indie yet commercially accessible topline similar to their work on “Say My Name.”
The Breakout Select: Alan Walker – Tired (Kygo Remix)
While he may have started out with a barrage of paradisical remixes, originals have been the focus for Norwegian tropical king, Kygo, for the past two to three years. His remix of The Weeknd and Daft Punk’s “Starboy” sort of came and went, but his latest melodic remix of Alan Walker’s “Tired” will surely earn its fair share of rotations this summer.
