Premiere: Lee Reynolds and Memo Rex team up for ‘The Seven Principles’ [Free Download]

Lee Reynolds is many things: a father, a grandfather, a former BMX rider, and a British expat. However, in recent years, the seasoned DJ has been most known for his role as a Desert Hearts founder, alongside Mikey Lion, Porkchop, and Marbs. As the DH crew builds upon its ethos of “House, Techno, and Love” throughout its continuously expanding festival brand and imprint, “Papa Lee” has been at the center.

For his newest project, Reynolds has partnered with San Diego native Memo Rex to deliver a cerebral tech house EP, entitled The Seven Principles. Thematically, the EP derives from the teachings of the ancient Hermes Trisgustus, referring to the seven principles of Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect, and Gender.

The EP’s leading track, which pairs energetic rhythmic loops with pleasantly mystifying melodic breaks, takes its name from these principles; another of the EP’s cuts, “Kybalion,” refers to the text in which these Hermetic tenets are outlined. Reynolds and Memo Rex round out the four-track release with a third original, “Everybody Knows,” and a “Kybalion” remix from Superfreq cofounder David Scuba.

The EP will arrive next Tuesday, July 18, on Desert Hearts Records, but is available for an exclusive free download here.
