In 2014, as Snails was exacting his rise to fame, he released “Slugz,” a menacing trap production which would prove to play a large hand in his ascension. Three years after the fact, the Québécois producer has revived his classic with a new VIP mix, available for free download.

In his revision on the track, Snails begins by reformatting the formidable lead synth of the original into an aggressive new rhythmic structure. As the remix progresses, the producer overtakes the established synthesis with more atonal instrumentation, akin to the composition of his 2015 single, “Frogbass.”

With faux melodrama, the producer addresses this conceptual usurpation in his description of the remix:

“The Slugz Army has fallen to Frogz. It’s an emergency. Evacuation imminent. Vomitsquad, we need your help!”

Snails’ VIP mix of “Slugz” comes midway through his ongoing festival tour, which will end at his Red Rocks event, “Sluggtopia,” in October.
