Watch Barack Obama make a special appearance at Chance The Rapper’s free show in Chicago

Chance The Rapper held a free concert in Chicago last night, August 12, and during the show the hip-hop sweetheart was congratulated by another notable Chicago icon and Chance fan.

After serving as the Grand Marshal for Chicago’s annual Bud Billiken parade— the largest and oldest celebratory African American parade in the U.S—former U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated Chano via a recorded video appearance. Offering an inspirational message for the crowd and thank you wishes from his family, Barack noted the Coloring Book rapper’s contributions to the community and his empowering work as an artist. Lamenting on his own times serving as the city’s Grand Marshall, Barack entertained the idea of Chance’s endless political possibilities.
