Cut Copy is back with a new album– Haiku From Zero [Listen]
Indie electronic group Cut Copy has released a new nine track album titled Haiku From Zero, the group’s first in nearly four years. The new LP is the follow up to their 2013 album Free Your Mind. Prior to dropping the full album, Cut Copy released two tracks in the run up — “Airborne” and “Standing In The Middle of a Field.”
“When we first started in Australia, there wasn’t really a scene for live electronic music,” said the group’s frontman Dan Whitford, “You were either someone that would go to raves or the club, but you wouldn’t go and see bands. Or you were an indie kid that went to see bands and had never listened to something with programmed drums before in your life. Cut Copy has always been an amalgam of those two things. So much has changed in the world since we started making music, but that aspect of the band — the desire to try and encompass everything — has only grown stronger.”
Cut Copy masterfully blends electronic music with indie rock music in the diverse collection of tracks that range from downtempo to upbeat and dance-inducing. The group will also be embarking upon a North American tour to accompany the album release. Their first stop will be in San Diego at CRSSD festival on October 1st.
