Marshmello pledges $100,000 to Red Cross in wake of Hurricane Harvey destruction
The sense of compassion that has long defined the electronic dance music community spread beyond the festival scene this weekend, as Marshmello turned his attentions to the destruction in Texas engendered by Hurricane Harvey. With the record-breaking storm having caused approximately $160 billion in damages, many artists and celebrities alike have expressed their empathy for its victims through sizable donations to The Red Cross and varied other hurricane relief organizations.
Marshmello has made one of the most remarkable contributions to the restoration effort thus far, pledging $100,000 dollars to The Red Cross “on behalf of the mellogang & “himself.” The producer posted a video to his Twitter account announcing his donation to the Red Cross, and calling upon his fellow colleagues and friends to get involved in the ways that they can.
On behalf of the mellogang & myself I’ll be donating $100,000 to the @RedCross I encourage you all to do whatever you can. @KevinHart4real pic.twitter.com/gtz7rbbqoq
