CBS exec ‘not sympathetic’ to Republican country music fans who died in Vegas mass shooting

CBS has fired a legal executive who voiced on social media that she wasn’t “sympathetic” to the victims of the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas.

“I’m actually not even sympathetic [because] country music fans often are Republican gun toters,” Hayley Geftman-Gold wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post. “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing.”

After a source flagged the post, CBS made a statement that she has been fired.

“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”

On Oct. 1, a gunman opened fire at an outdoor country music festival in Las Vegas, killing 58 people and injuring more than 500 others in what is the deadliest mass shooting in US history, surpassing the Pulse night club shooting in June of 2016, an attack that claimed 49 lives.
