Left/Right & Jacq – Bad (Born Dirty Remix)

Fresh out of the bass house pipeline comes an intelligent remix from a couple of newcomers out of London, Born Dirty. As the unlikely collaborative project of DJs Son Of Kick & Linden Jay, the duo joined forces back in 2015 working on the soundtrack for an Apple Macbook Pro campaign, then again for a track with Shift K3Y titled “Misbehave.”

Now, the duo has given Left/Right and Jacq’s original, “Bad,” an energetic treatment that sits somewhere in between hip-hop, deep house, and techno. The Born Dirty remix begins in a traditional deep house vein, before an unexpected twist appears at the song’s first drop. The result is a complex bass house track with experimental appeal, complete with sharp off-beats and a perplexing time signature.

The duo is certainly one to watch heading into 2018, having already garnered the support of Insomniac, with tracks on both AC Slater‘s NightBass and Claude VonStroke‘s Dirtybird BBQ compilations. Born Dirty has succeeded in creating a signature hybrid sound resting on the backbone of an eclectic range of electronic genres.
