Scooter Braun: Justin Bieber’s 2014 meltdown was a ‘life or death’ moment

Justin Bieber had a fairly eye-raising 2014, a year dotted with a number of shocking incidents, including an illegal street drag race in Miami, vandalism of a neighbor’s house, drug abuse, and a controversy surrounding his alleged use of a racial slur.

In a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun revealed that the singer’s condition was significantly worse than it appeared, and that he shares part of the blame.

“I failed him day after day. We were living in hell because he was in such a dark place. I have inconveniences, and other people have problems. Mine feel important, but they’re not. They’re not life or death. Justin’s stuff got to a point where it was a problem.”

Braun claims that numerous individuals in the industry told him that Bieber was done and that he should move on, but Braun responded, “I made a promise to him when he was 13 that I would never give up on him. I plan on keeping that promise. I think he’s seen the worst of himself, and to watch him rise out of it was amazing.”
