The Bloody Beetroots throw down hard at final U.S. tour stop in NYC

Industrial electronic act The Bloody Beetroots recently completed the U.S. run of their tour in New York City, and Dancing Astronaut was on hand to witness the mayhem.

From beginning to end, it was an energetic performance, with frontman Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo running, jumping, and dancing around the entire stage. It is perhaps this level of physicality that drives Rifos’s other venture: a series of regular fitness bootcamp sessions for fans and friends. It’s quite an ingenious way to engage the fans while also accomplishing a difficult workout.

The show at Warsaw in New York City was largely punctuated with tracks from the group’s newest album release, The Great Electronic Swindle, a direct reference to The Great Rock & Roll Swindle, a documentary focused on seminal punk band The Sex Pistols. Rifo says that this album, in his view, was meant to push the boundaries of what electronic music production can and should be in 2017 and beyond.

Not wanting to leave fans hanging, the night also Included the classics, with renditions of “Rocksteady” and “Warp 1.9” that drew some of the biggest mosh pits of the night. Dancing Astronaut can confirm that no one was harmed in the making of these mosh pits — at least on this stop.

The Bloody Beetroots ended the night bringing out the lead singer of LA-based duo Rituals of Mine, who have accompanied Rifo and company on a number of stops this year. It was an emphatic stamp on a high-octane night. Next up is a trip back home to Italy, while the group finishes up some performances in Europe through the end of the year and then resets for big things in 2018.
