Flight Facilities exhibit outstanding production prowess on collaborative ‘Stranded’
It’s been three years since the Aussie duo Flight Facilities teamed up with Reggie Watts for their powerful production “Sunshine,” a track off the duo’s last record Down To Earth.
Strongly akin to its heavily-weighted, and yet ever so light-heartedly delivered funk, Flight Facilities has teamed up with Reggie Watts once more for a new track, entitled “Stranded.” But it seems good things come in threes, as Watts is also joined by the New Zealand pop sensation Broods and Los Angeles-based vocalist Saro on the new number.
Recorded across three continents, Flight Facilities’ striking new tune soars in its instrumental contributions and sonic occupancy. The duo has echoed a gorgeous sentiment that follows in the footsteps of their seminal “Clair de Lune,” although, the heightened sonic strength and thumping bassline of the new track also owes its thanks to a plentiful assortment of acts.
Additional contributors on “Stranded” include instrumental contributions from Touch Sensitive, the classical pianist Piers Lane, and Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa. Grammy-winning producers Eric J Dubowsky — who’s worked with Flume, Chet Faker, Odesza — as well as Davide Rossi — Coldplay, Röyksopp — also aided in the culmination of the enveloping number.
“Stranded” comes complete with an inexplicably beautiful visual pairing. The video was shot in a decommissioned prison in Sydney, Australia and created by the award-winning Australian director Tom Noakes.
While it remains unclear as to whether Flight Facilities has envisioned a further return, a number with an enveloping sonic occupancy like “Stranded” will surely hold listeners over until that moment arrives.
