Item Image

Launchpad is a playlist series showcasing music we love, hand selected by our staff. The tracks come from both emerging and mainstream artists; it’s all about the quality and the unexpected. If you’d like your music featured in Launchpad, submit it for consideration here.

Thanksgiving is over, it’s still a month until Christmas, which means there remains a long stretch of winter ahead. That’s why we created this indie dance playlist for you, to share some tunes that will help you make it through the period of finals, end of year reviews, and a glut of holiday music. Check out these tracks, filled with downtempo goodness, soulful vocals, and just the right amount of drum kick.

DA Launchpad Selects:

LYOD – “Love It Or Leave It”
The cover art might tip you off: the palm trees tell you what you need to know about this laidback, dancehall inspired gem. Maybe it’s the warm colors or the reggae-infused vocals. Either way, from the very first horns of the track, it’s easy to tell that this one is a vibe. Bringing a perfect balance of relaxation and dance notes, this one is sure to keep you warm this winter.

Wyclef Jean – “What Happened To Love (N8VBOY Remix)”
This remix by N8VBOY combines a lot of what we love about remix culture in general. Take a quality original and reimagine it into a completely new lane. In this case, it comes in the form of the pitched down vocals of the chorus, combined with the unmistakable voice of Sir Wyclef himself. When it comes time for the drop, things hit in just the right way; it comes in the form of a groove rather than a departure from the rest of the track.

Tracklist:

LYOD – “Love It Or Leave It”
ID3 – “Blossom (feat. LaMeduza)”
Hollywood Principle – “If Only (feat. AL3JANDRO)”
Overjoy – “Women”
