Hugo Massien releases ‘Ghost Note’ EP

Hugo Massien has released his Ghost Note EP. The project features four tracks and spans atmospheric house, UK breaks, and experimental techno.

Massien’s tracks have garnered the support of DJs Annie MacBicep, and Maya Jane Coles, to name a few. After coming into contact with Dusky via last year’s acclaimed “Restart the Sun,” the UK-based producer now officially charters his newest release on Dusky’s label, 17 Steps.

“Ghost Note” is an homage to UK breaks paired with a lethal injection of futuristic acid house synths, and the stylistic fusion evokes an ominous sense of distress in robotic fashion. “Speak to Silence” develops similar robo-frequencies, in a more linear fashion. Echoing synths are juxtaposed with their more direct, computational counterparts; drops of acid hit the stove, each creating its own boisterous ting. “Broke the Cycle” is a moody, grooving dance ballad reminiscent of rave’s yesteryears while the concluding track, “Meisser 77,” signals the finish of the EP with Detroit influenced synths and prodding drums.

To coincide with the EP, Hugo will be joining Dusky on the Nottingham and Brussels dates of their 17 Steps tour in 2018.
