Premiere: Coyu & Bastian Bux – Space Smokers Are Invading Mars

Coyu is closing out his year in a cunning fashion alongside Bastian Bux in the form of Sons of Suburbs.

The four-piece output sees the two Spanish collaborators spiraling into the void of spacey, atmospheric techno that solidifies that ends with its darkest and most cleverly-titled track, “Space Smokers Are Invading Mars.” Listeners are immediately dragged into a valley of gritty analog progressions that create tensity as more subtle, yet sinister accents in the background envelop the mind in a shadowy veil. Like one might think upon seeing its name, the record truly invades the psyche, creating an apocalyptic feeling that leaves one with no choice but to dance.

“Space Smokers Are Invading Mars,” and the EP as a whole, solidify the new direction Suara has been going in as of late as a label; much of its new profile was helped in part by Bastian Bux as well, who has brought a plethora of gritty new releases to the label throughout 2017. Meanwhile, Coyu has also demonstrated his equal sensibilities in both the tech house and melodic, more techno/progressive-oriented arenas.

Sons of Suburbs is out on December 11. Pre-order it here.
