Anna Meredith drops off cerebral new track, ‘Calion’

Scottish composer Anna Meredith has returned with a new track for Adult Swim‘s Singles series, which speaks volumes for the artist after a quiet 2017.

Meredith released her critically-acclaimed and award-winning debut record, Varmints, in 2016. Her latest synth-drenched offering is sonically reminiscent of her beloved debut and bears a passing resemblance to the work of Jamie xx, Steve Reich, and the seminal Philip Glass. Meredith’s experimental grandeur is immersed in both texture and syncopation but remains digestible in its galvanizing penchant.

“Calion” may be the first new music from Meredith in some time, but its driving inclination evokes an abiding, cinematic landscape which is sure to permeate the memories of its listeners for some time.

Anna Meredith is also heading out on a nine-show tour at the end of January.

Tour Dates:

25 January – San Francisco, CA – Great American Music Hall
26 January – Los Angeles, CA – Bootleg Theater
31 January – Boston, MA – Brighton Music Hall
