The Hot 25: January 5, 2018

The Hot 25 is the definitive playlist series running through dance music culture and hand-delivering you the essential tracks of the week. Whether it’s the hottest or quickest trending tracks, brand new music from your favorite artists, or songs from the unknown that should be landing on your radar, Dancing Astronaut brings you 25 carefully selected records that reflect what’s happening in our world.

This week’s playlist kicks off 2018 with a number of blazing original works from Lane 8, Ekali & ZHU, and Showtek & Moby. Kayzo continues the cascade of single releases from his forthcoming debut album with the title track, “Overload,” full of snarling synths and stabbing bass. Amongst this week’s best remixes, Cavego gives Hotel Garuda and Lemaitre’s “Dancing On The Moon” a frothy spin while Codes takes Martin Garrix and David Guetta‘s “So Far Away” into pumping house territory. Next, MGMT re-emerges with a downtempo indie-electronic gem, “Hand It Over.” Finally, rising newcomer, Galactic Marvl, continues to impress with his extraterrestrial single, “Do It To Me.”

The Heat of the Week: Lane 8 – Coming Back To You (ft. J.F. July)

Euphoric house guru, Lane 8, opens up another page to his upcoming debut LP, Little by Little, with “Coming Back To You.” To keep it simple, the track is gorgeous, uplifting, atmospheric, and makes us even more excited for the full album.

The Breakout Select: Ekali & ZHU – Blame

Canadian trap whiz, Ekali, just wrapped up his major North America tour with many sold out shows and does not slow down heading into the new year with a haunting collaboration alongside ZHU called “Blame.”

Additionally, we’ve provided our top picks from within The DA Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.
