Spotify wants subscribers to help identify genres with new tool

In an ongoing effort to ensure the accuracy of their music library, Spotify has unveiled a new tool called Line-In. The new editing feature enlists the platform’s subscribers in helping identify track genres, artist aliases, and more. Users can suggest edits to the listed information about artists, albums and songs, helping Spotify ensure all of its metadata is correct.

All suggestions and edits to existing information will reviewed and ranked based on the accuracy of past submissions.

“Listeners describe music in different ways, and understanding that information will help improve, extend, and confirm the information that describes music on Spotify,” a Spotify spokesperson told Variety. “We hope to better understand how Spotify listeners interpret music, so that we can improve experiences for both listeners and artists.”
