Dancing Astronaut presents Axis Episode 073: Florian Picasso
2013 has been good to the young Frenchman Florian Picasso. With support from Cosmic Gate, Arty, and other on his two hit singles "Artefact" and "Artemis" and a spot at the SPIN closing pool party during Miami Music Week this past season, it's clear his career is only just beginning to heat up. He visits DA's Axis decks this week with a mix of relevant favorites, originals, and a nice handful of bootlegs as well. Welcome Florian Picasso for Axis 073!
Florian Picasso – Love Generation (Original Mix)
French progressive house upstart Florian Picasso follows up the release of "Artefact" with his his latest original "Love Generation." Driving the mix forward with peak time chord progressions and subtle vocal stutters, Picasso achieves anthemic levels of feel good electronica. Revamping Bob Sinclar and The Wailers original, Picasso swaps out the Jamaican dancehall vibes for youthful choral elements and big room synthwork. It may not be as bouncy as Sinclar's 2006 smash hit, but for what it lacks in summer sex appeal it makes up for in peak time panache.
Florian Picasso – Artefact (Original Mix) [Preview]
Swiss newcomer Florian Picasso initially established himself last year with the tech house-tinged Muki EP, but returns to original productions duties with a re-imagined personal style. After remixing Tegan & Sara's indie pop hit "Closer" with a distinctly progressive aesthetic, Florian maintains his newfound trajectory on "Artefact." Creating an electro production that is heavier than anything in his back catalog, the young producer establishes a new vision for his artistic outings - one that is destined for big room and big name support.
