Did Jaden Smith steal this beat from Louis the Child?
Jaden Smith may be be the latest Will.i.am. The elder Smith teamed up with producer Daniel D'artiste for his latest EP, This Is The Album, but Jaden must have forgot to ensure that D'artiste wasn't "borrowing" his productions from other established producers. The stand out track on the 7-cut EP, "Moon In My Room" features fellow Smith offspring, Willow Smith, a handful of Sin City samples, and one eerily recognizable backing beat courtesy of Louis the Child. Over 3 months ago, Louis the Child, a trap production duo from Chicago, released their remix of Oh Wonder's "Body Gold" with a distinctly warped synth acting as the track's lead element. Fast forward to Smith's "Moon In My Room" and the duo's easily identifiable handywork can be found slowed to a crawl but still very present in the production. It's another ugly case of a supremely popular artist co-opting someone else's work and passing it off as their own but Smith seems unphased:
