Summer 2011 Northeast festival updates: Ingrosso, Avicii, Identity, and SIZE
EDM is making waves on the east coast, so we just wanted to remind you of some big events going down in and around NYC in the coming weeks before tickets get sold out and friendships are lost. Pacha NYC is absolutely killing it, with some level of involvement in almost all upcoming festivals — head past the break for the full lowdown.
First off, one third of the Swedish House Mafia will be invading New York this Friday, but the talent rolling with him is a pretty sweet substitution for the other two missing members. We know it’s not technically a festival, but figured this event needed a proper shoutout. Sebastian Ingrosso will be tearing up Pacha NYC with the DA-approved DJ Alesso. Tickets are still available for the 19+ event, and if you want our advice: buy now. Tickets
Also presented by Pacha NYC is the Black & White Festival on Governor’s Island. Day 1’s headliner is Boris, with Oscar G and Chriss Vargas also on the bill. However Sunday is the biggie: the return of Avicii. That’s sure to be a huge event and again marks Pacha’s forays out of their midtown outpost into the festival scene. Hopefully the weather will hold up a bit better than it did in the Hamptons, but then again, die hard Avicii fans don’t seem to be fazed by a little foul weather. Tickets Day 1 / Day 2
The Dance.Here.Now Festival goes down July 4th Weekend, kicking off with a massive six hour set from Paul Van Dyk on Friday. Fatboy Slim headlines Saturday, while heavyweights Benny Benassi and Laidback Luke will make their mark on Governor’s Island on Sunday. Oh, and we hear Matt Goldman will be spinning Sunday too — not a bad gig. Tickets Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3
Camp Bisco is another upcoming festival taking place in Mariaville, NY at the Indian Lookout Country Club. It has a different vibe from many of the other festivals going down this summer, with acts like the Disco Biscuits, Cut Copy, Pretty Lights, and Skrillex. The three day festival is going down July 7-9, and tickets are still available for individual days or as a three day package. Tickets
Identity Fest will be hitting the northeast not once, but twice — at the PNC Bank Arts Center August 14th with a follow up on Jones Beach the following Sunday. With Kaskade, Steve Aoki, and Nero — just to name a few — this is sure to be a massive traveling festival that you won’t want to miss when it rolls in to town. Tickets PNC Bank Arts / Jones Beach
Last but not least is the appearance of the Size Matters crew, which will be taking over Governor’s Island August 20th. So far announced on the ticket is Thomas Gold, but we wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other members of Angello’s posse make an appearance at what’s sure to be a wild event. Tickets
