Electric Zoo 2012 Day 2: Memorable moments from Randall’s Island
Our second day on Randall’s island was hotter and more hectic than the first. With a massive influx of concertgoers and a slew of big name progressive headliners, Saturday at Electric Zoo finally embodied the “zoo” aesthetic. All tents were packed to the brim with energetic fans, braving the heat and humidity to see their favorite acts. With names like Axwell, Dada Life, Wolfgang Gartner, Rusko, Above & Beyond, Steve Aoki, and Sasha on the lineup, there was a sound to satisfy anyone’s tastes — and plenty of security guards with hoses to keep the crowds cool.
Check out our quick recap of Day 1 and grab some livesets from Friday and Saturday.
When DallasK delivered an unbelievably aggressive set to a packed crowd early in the day at Hilltop.
When the beautiful and charming NERVO twins brought Hook n Sling on stage to close out with “Reason.”
Hearing the Bingo Players drop “Rattle” – Sure we’ve all heard it a million times but it is so much more powerful when the actual producers spin their own track.
When Mord Fustang’s face full of hair didn’t stop him from delivering the most sonically interesting set of the day. Underrated does not even begin to describe this guy’s sound.
When Sander Van Doorn changed it up and dropped so many ID tracks that we lost count.
When Martin Solveig SMASHED the Hilltop tent with his unique blend of pop, house, and electro.
When we all fed the Dada.
When Rusko’s wild-style stage presence and blistering productions laid waste to the crowd at Hilltop.
When not even our cameras were safe from the heat and humidity under the Hilltop tent during Wolfgang Gartner’s brilliant electro set.
When they said “If God was a DJ, he would open for Sasha.”
When Axwell blew the crowd away with a set that no one was expecting.
