Figure releases ‘Lifeline,’ donates proceeds to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, members of the dance music community have stepped up to try and help relief efforts. For his part, Figure has released a free remix of Citizen Cope’s “Lifeline” but is giving fans the option to donate funds to the cause instead. He says, “This remix seems fitting for what’s going on today, so releasing it into the wild with hopes it raises awareness for our friends along the Eastern seaboard who need a little lifeline right now.” Even if it’s just the $1.99 you might have paid for the song on iTunes, we hope you all contribute.
The heavy bass and wobbles Figure applies to the song mesh well with Citizen Cope’s vocals. Wompy dubstep remixes of seemingly out of place slow songs often result in beautifully haunting renditions — “Lifeline” is no exception.
