Adriatique push further into limelight with Face to Face EP
Although Swiss duo Adriatique stepped onto the scene less than two years ago, their latest EP Face to Face, out this past week on the Los Angeles-based Culprit record label, is an offering worthy of producers twice their age. Adrian & Adrian have been cutting their teeth on Solomun‘s Diynamic label for some time, and this four-track EP is a great example of the new wave of consummate modern house productions — offering both a nod to the past and a leap into the future.
“Face to Face,” a track we’ve been hearing in sets and mixes pretty often as of late, is a well-oiled production — combining a catchy vocal hook with cagey deep house chords. The bass line on “Circle of Love” is a bit easier, and “Blackbox” ups the instrumentals with a fun little guitar riff. Last but not least is “Need It Now,” using Adriatique’s groove a bit more sparsely, sprinkled in with some hi-hat and cowbell action to boot.
