Spinnin’ introduces new freemium service, ‘Spinnin’ Premium’

Spinnin’ appears to sympathize with the adage, “If you can’t beat em’, join ’em,” with regard to music streaming. It may be one of the most profitable labels in electronic music, hosting an army of top 10 formula DJs and pushing the future house trend with its Deep imprint, but even the strongest appear weak in the wake of the streaming services takeover. Labels of all musical genres have been impacted by the proliferation of apps like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music.

Opting to coexist with the trend rather than desperately clutch onto its dwindling income Spinnin’ has introduced its own variation of the “freemium” service. Simplistically named, “Spinnin’ Premium” will offer “an exclusive 2 week period of free downloading our latest Spinnin’ Premium releases.” In exchange for rights of use to your personal email, the service will allow members to access their free downloads from anywhere.

Ultimately, Spinnin’ aims to preserve its wealth and build upon it with its new program. Should the service attract thousands of users and experience success to some degree, the behemoth would have access to a trove of user information and consumer patterns previously unattainable by means of downloading its tracks through iTunes or Beatport.
