Battle of the Beats: Rusko vs Jack Beats – Somebody to Love
Battle of the Beats is a new feature from Dancing Astronaut that pits two tracks that share the same title against one another to determine which production represents the name better. With the dance music community continually growing, producers, mashup artists and DJs alike constantly create new music, often of the same name. Now we are opening it up to our readers to weigh in on who’s rendition takes the proverbial cake.
Jack Beats – “Somebody to Love”
On the title track of their mini-album Somebody to Love, the electro duo known as Jack Beats pour on a power-charged bumping intro before Jess Mills lends her vocals. Mills’ sassy voice hits at each bass-thumping beat while soaring synths create a forceful electro banger on their version of “Somebody to Love.”
Rusko – “Somebody to Love”
Dubstep champion Rusko released a track by the same title on his second solo studio album Songs. Also hailing from the UK, Rusko taps into an electro side as well, before unloading one of his sub-rattling bass drops. Using an infectious vocal sample, the now LA-based producer gives listeners a club ready bass-banger on his adaptation of “Somebody to Love.”
