Battle of the Beats: Deadmau5 vs TEED – Closer

Battle of the Beats is a new feature from Dancing Astronaut that pits two tracks that share the same title against one another to determine which production represents the name better. With the dance music community continually growing, producers, mashup artists and DJs alike constantly create new music, often of the same name.  Now we are opening it up to our readers to weigh in on who’s rendition takes the proverbial cake.

Deadmau5 – Closer

The notorious house producer Deadmau5 brings listeners a progressive production with his version of “Closer.” The 7-minute output leads in with drawn out guitar riffs before growing into a bubbling beat with big room appeal. Like many of his other progressive house tracks, the instrumental driven output takes listeners on a sprawling storyline with stretching synths.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – Closer

Also known as TEED, Orlando Higginbottom emerged as a force to be reckoned with in 2012, releasing his debut album Trouble. Off the LP, his rendition of “Closer” is also a drawn out production but incorporates bass plugs which bounce off the male vocals with ease. A quiet yet powerful production, TEED’s version is a vibrantly airy output with rippling bass bumps.
