Fatboy Slim: ‘Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse’
Fatboy Slim is only one of many artists and fans alike whom find their minds quite blown by Daft Punk‘s latest material. In a recent interview with Daily Star, Fatboy — real name Norman Cook — praises the duo, crediting them as “the last great dance music supergroup you’ll ever hear” and claiming they’ve given electronic artists (himself included) “all a kick up the arse.” Impressed by their “simple and melodic” sound that’s “a breath of fresh old-school air,” Norman himself will reportedly put his next Fatboy Slim album on hold to work with Random Access Memories collaborators such as Nile Rodgers.
“I’m so impressed by them. It’s a breath of fresh old- skool air. The EDM thing has become a collection of huge noises that sound the same and are a bit bland. I’m glad Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse. They are so simple and melodic. They’re the last great dance music supergroup you’ll hear.”
