With just two days until Coachella kicks off for its fourteenth year, this morning we’re taking a trip down both the festival’s and electronic music’s memory lane. In 2011 The Chemical Brothers made two quick stops in the U.S., only sharing their classic big beat sound with fans at Ultra and Coachella. While the Miami crowd was packed for the legends, Indio proved a better setting for their closeout Friday set.
The blissful, sample-free hour of Chemical classics blurred from one tune to the next, blended old with new and sent shivers and smiles with “Galvanize” and “Swoon.” The set went from Further all the way back to Exit Planet Dust, skipping no album in between. While more emotive than EDM-like, the duo’s retrospective storyline expertly spun its way to its place amongst the Coachella classics.
