2013 has already treated electro-house producer Lucky Date relatively well. Coming off two well-regarded remixes of marquee tracks in Danny Avila’s “Breaking Your Fall” and Hardwell’s “Apollo,” the Californian was due for an original release.
He has delivered in a big way with “Fantom,” a muscular electro track that manages to strike a difficult balance in combining numerous elements without sounding overcrowded. From its head-bobbing bass line to the squelchy synth stabs that puncture its dynamic layers of sound, Lucky Date proves he has the hallmarks of his genre down cold. The sampled crowd noise says it all, this one was intended for the summer festival circuit that it is almost certain to enthrall.
