Weichhold & Namito Pres. Hickhack – Speicher 74 EP
No one does techno quite like the Germans. Cologne-based Kompakt Records has been a scene stalwart for more than 15 years, showcasing luminary talents from Gui Boratto to Nicole Moudaber. Kompakt’s latest release features Kling Klong boss Rainer Weichhold‘s latest collaboration with Iranian producer Namito, a project this release introduces as Hickhack.
The two tracks, fittingly named “Hick” and “Hack” respectively, are specimens of throwback techno at its finest. Featuring plenty of unpredictable bleeps and bloops alongside percussive flourishes, both productions are refreshingly minimal in composition, while being complex enough in arrangement to keep things interesting. Take a mental excursion to the dark bowels of esteemed Berlin mega-club Berghain.
