Casa Indio crosses borders with a unique music and art experience

Indio, the dark lager Mexican beer, and VICE Media have collaborated for a new multi-city and multi-functional art, music and culture installation dubbed Casa Indio. The unique event encourages patron to “Do Their Thing” and is a fully interactive experience with artists from Mexico and the US.

The first series of events took place this past month in Los Angeles and will be traveling to Chicago, Austin, and San Francisco through November, all in an effort to raise funds for the National Museum of Mexican Art. So far the confirmed artists and performers include; Los Macuanos, Elis Paprika, Daniel Maloso, San Pedro el Cortez, I Can Chase Dragons!, Teen Flirt, Chico Sonido, Sea Lions, Roses, Katy Goodman, Dani Shivers and others. Additional programming will include the screening of Las Nueve Vidas de Paco by Girl/Chocolate Skateboards; workshops by Level Press Ink, and programming by Burger Records, KXLU 88.9 FM, Group Tightener, and much more.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Cerveza Indio back to LA, Chicago, Austin and San Francisco this year – and even more excited to be setting up a home for the brand and our audience to come together. VICE has put on events and programs for years in each city, but CASA INDIO will be unlike anything we’ve done before. It’s really exciting and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Ben Dietz, VP of Sales & Business Development for VICE.

In addition to the unique art and music experience, Indio invites artists who are residents of California, Texas or Illinois to submit an original piece of 2D artwork to be displayed in the first ever Indio Gallery contest that is currently live on the brand’s Facebook page. Thirty-two finalists will be chosen from the eligible entries to have their artwork showcased on a billboard, in one of eight markets in CA, TX or IL in October. Submit today because the contest ends on July 1st.

From these 32 finalists, one Grand Prize winner will be selected to have his or her artwork displayed across eight cities, receive a $5,000 cash prize and have the opportunity to develop additional creative materials for the Indio Beer brand.
