Daft Punk confirmed as producers of Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’
Kanye West is less than two weeks away from dropping his latest studio album, Yeezus, but details from tracklist to pre-order are still being kept tight. As it’s been confirmed, the album will feature production from electronic talents — notably Skrillex and Daft Punk. Last month, Kanye debuted “Black Skinhead” on Saturday Night Live, and it was instantly rumored to have been produced by Daft Punk after matching Thomas Bangalter’s description of their collaboration.
“We had a combination of live drums and programmed drums going… Not even rapping, more like screaming in this very primal way.”
After an observant spotting of production credits, it has been confirmed that Daft Punk have in fact co-written one of the lead singles off Yeezus — with composers listed as Kanye West, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and Thomas Bangalter. Juxtaposing the sound they unveiled on Random Access Memories, the French duo deliver a dark, intense combination of programmed and live drums among other jungle-like elements for Kanye to blur genres with his shouts of controversial lyrics.
