Veteran German producer Moguai has come full circle. Twelve years after launching his Punx label in the vinyl-centric era, Andre Tegeler has teamed with Spinnin’ to resurrect the esteemed imprint in spanking new digital form. After gracing some of dance music’s finest labels – including mau5trap and Size – in interim, it’s only fitting that the boss himself should be showcased in the reboot’s first release. Moguai has not disappointed with “PunkOmat,” an electro-infused peak-time offering that sports sterling sound design on its marching lead synth line and masterful layering on its gigantic builds. The production is among a rare breed that can fit seamlessly into a modern big room set while maintaining a distinct sound from the cookie-cutter tracks that crowd the genre.
