Even before working closely with Daft Punk on Random Access Memories, Pharrell Williams established himself as a forward thinking and highly talented producer. Despite gaining notoriety primarily from his hip hop outputs with N.E.R.D. it’s no secret; Pharrell has the midas touch whenever he steps into the studio. Reworking French singer-songwriter Woodkid’s ‘I Love You,’ Pharrell embraces the mood of the melancholic original, slightly altering its tempo with a percussion-focused foundation. Yoann Lemoine’s organ work remains intact, echoing amidst Pharrell’s own psychedelic additions.
