Battle of the Beats: Jidax vs. Nicky Romero & Krewella – Legacy

Battle of the Beats is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that pits two tracks that share the same title against one another to determine which production represents the name better. With the dance music community continually growing, producers, mashup artists and DJs alike constantly create new music, often of the same name.  Now we are opening it up to our readers to weigh in on whose rendition takes the proverbial cake.

Jidax – Legacy

The young French duo Jidax debuted their “Legacy” on Tiesto’s Club Life before officially releasing it on S2 Records this February. Featuring the vocals of Stokeswood, the track is a progressive prowler, with drawn-out builds, a piano-based melody and theatrical lyrics. Perfectly pitched for the club, the tune shows the Parisian pair’s production chops and put them at the top of the up-and-comer list.

Nicky Romero & Krewella – Legacy

If you’ve seen Nicky Romero play in the last six months, chances are you’ve heard his “Legacy” collaboration with Krewella. With a tone more serious than most of the Krew’s lines, the track blends “Symphonica”-esque synths with soulful lyrics for a progressive juxtaposition. Oozing with star-power and supported by the likes of Pete Tong and Afrojack, the track flew to the top of the Beatport charts where it is still sitting today.

So whose “Legacy” shines brighter?
