Funkagenda joins Dim Mak with electro-fueled Samsara EP

Having re-energized his Funk Farm imprint with an Ibiza compilation for 2013, Funkagenda emerges from a considerable drought of studio material to unveil an off-the-cuff debut EP for Dim Mak. Off the heels of free-download “Paragon” and a suitably impactful remix of Zedd’s “Clarity,” the Samsara EP serves as the last avenue many would have expected the technical floor filler to emerge from. Where “To The Moon” eclipses the usual progressive get-up we have come to expect from the British producer with a grinding canvas of electro house hallmarks, “Half Man Half Drugs” follows similar form, nodding to some of the more familiar melodic tendencies that have fueled his extensive career to date. For a venture sure to split devout fans and newfound enthusiasts alike, this two-track EP is enough to tame fears that Funkagenda had lost his relevance on the modern dance floor, asserting a long overdue re-emergence for this once unstoppable British club asset for 2013.
