Funkagenda is channelling his inner-Buddha with his latest two-track Samsara EP. The Sanskrit term refers to the cycle of rebirth in Buddhism — in this case, it’s as if Funkagenda has been reborn as an electro-house producer. The EP’s first offering, “To the Moon + Back,” begins with an echoing, trance-like build before merging into a winding electro drop. The second track, “Half Man Half Drugs,” exudes a friendly progressive house vibe before taking a dark turn at the signal of its eponymous sample. With its harder, more hectic intentions, Samsara EP makes for a fitting release on Dim Mak. The EP is due out on July 30th.
