Avicii discusses choosing his DJ name, connecting with manager Ash, more on rise to stardom
In a recent video interview special with VEVO entitled “Becoming: Avicii,” the Swede responsible for “Levels” and the explosive career that followed opens up about his earliest days in the electronic dance music sphere. Beginning with his name, Tim explains “the name Avicii means the lowest level of Buddhist hell,” and how he chose the moniker when finding that his real name was already used upon creating his MySpace page.
He dates his earliest inspiration to house music blogs, where after using them to explore new music he decided to send them original material. In result, Ash Pournouri spotted the youngster and reached out, becoming his manager soon after. Tim went on to discuss producing and DJing during that time period before giving credit to those who helped him in his earliest days.
